Lord Strathclyde

My Lords, with leave I shall move that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 267 to 270 en bloc. I should also like to speak to Amendments Nos. 386 to 388. All of the amendments concern the new patents county courts introduced under the provisions of Clause 267 or the Patent Office reports which the courts will be able to call for.

Moved, That the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 267 to 270 en bloc.—(Lord Strathclyde.)

Lord Williams of Elvel

My Lords, when the Bill was before the House in Committee and we had a discussion on the patent county courts, the noble and learned Lord the Lord Chancellor accepted that it might be rather difficult to find people to serve as expert judges in those courts. Have the Government any further indication from the noble and learned Lord as to whether that problem is less acute than it was when we discussed it in Committee?

Lord Strathclyde

My Lords, no. I am advised that we have got no further on that course.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
