HL Deb 19 May 1988 vol 497 c432

3.30 p.m.

Lord Denham

My Lords, it may be for the convenience of the House if I announce that the Committee stage of the Education Reform Bill will be adjourned at approximately 7 p.m. for approximately one hour and that during this adjournment the Control of Misleading Advertisements Regulations 1988 and the Second Reading of the Malicious Communications Bill will be taken.

I should also like to say a word about this afternoon's business. As your Lordships are aware, the House will sit tomorrow at 11 a.m. In the circumstances, the House would normally wish to rise tonight by 11 p.m. While I do not wish to constrict in any way the proper consideration of the House, I know that noble Lords will bear this in mind in judging the length of the contributions to the debate on this, our final day in Committee on the Education Reform Bill.
