My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. This amendment to Standing Order No. 20 is required to put into effect the new arrangements for leave of absence which were contained in the Second Report of the Procedure Committee, to which your Lordships recently agreed.

Moved, That the Standing Orders relating to public business be amended as follows—

Standing Order 20

Leave out paragraphs (3) to (5) and insert—"(3) on the issue of writs for the calling of a new Paraliament the Clerk of the Parliaments shall in writing ask every Lord who was on leave of absence at the end of the preceding Parliament whether he wishes to apply for leave of absence for the new Parliament."—(The Chairman of Committees.)
