HL Deb 22 July 1988 vol 499 cc1646-7

196 Clause 135, page 91, line 37, after 'him' insert ', not later than the end of the period of three months beginning with the day on which he asks for it,'.

Earl Ferrers

My Lords, with the leave of the House, I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 196.

In another place the honourable Member for St. Helens South proposed that there should be a time limit within which, following a request, chief officers of police should be required to issue a certificate confirming that computer fingerprints have been destroyed. Amendment No. 196 gives effect to that proposal. It obliges chief officers to issue such a certificate within three months of the request. I beg to move.

Moved, That this House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 196.—(Earl Ferrers.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
