§ 5A Line 1, leave out from beginning to ("the ") in line 3.
The Earl of CaithnessMy Lords, I have already spoken to this amendment, and therefore I beg to move it formally.
I should like to reply to the noble Lord, Lord Mishcon. Of course I shall ask the fire authority to check on this matter once more, because it is important. I accept the slap on the wrist that the noble Lord has given the Government. It should not happen but, with the best will in the world, these things do happen. Not only is the Fire and Civil Defence Authority concerned, but those responsible for the properties in question will be extremely concened that they have their house properly in order, in view of what has been said by the noble Lord.
Moved, that the House do agree with Amendment No. 5A, as an amendment to Commons Amendment No. 5.—(The Earl of Caithness.)
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
§ The Deputy Chairman (Lord Murton of Lindisfarne)My Lords, the Question is that the House do agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 5 as amended.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
