HL Deb 27 April 1987 vol 486 c1236
The Lord President of the Council (Viscount Whitelaw)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

The background to this Motion was clearly set out by the Chairman of Committees on 8th April last when he moved that the report of the Select Committee on Broadcasting be agreed to. The House agreed to that report and the effect of my Motion today will be to give effect to the recommendation in it.

Moved, That, in accordance with the recommendation of the Select Committee on Broadcasting (1st Report 1986–87, Sound Archives) agreed to by the House on Wednesday, 8th April last, the Resolution of the House of 28th July 1977 relating to sound broadcasting be amended by the deletion in paragraph 4 of the words, "together with a selection for permanent preservation".—(Viscount Whitelaw.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
