§ The Lord Chancellor (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)My Lords, before the commencement of business, I take the opportunity to inform the House that, with the approval of Her Majesty the Queen, I have accepted an invitation from the Lord President of the Supreme Court of Malaysia to attend the fourth international conference of appellate judges and the third conference of Commonwealth chief justices which are to take place in Kuala Lumpur consecutively between 20th April and 25th April this year. Accordingly, I trust the House will agree to grant me leave of absence for Monday, 27th April.
