The Question was as follows: To ask Her Majesty's Government what plans exist to introduce a new examination in electronics in addition to CSE or GCE examinations.
§ The Earl of SwintonMy Lords, all five GCSE Examining Groups in England and Wales intend to offer GCSE syllabuses in electronics from this September. In addition, some GCE boards plan to introduce syllabuses in electronics at Advanced Supplementary level in September 1987.
§ Lord MolloyMy Lords, is the noble Earl aware that that is indeed a very welcome reply to a very important Question? Is he further aware that people in education, in industry and in commerce take the view that the special creation that he has mentioned in the field of electronics will be very welcome, because of its close association with computers and advanced technology? 1 am grateful to the noble Earl for his reply.
