HL Deb 20 February 1986 vol 471 c728

4.9 p.m.

The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

This small amendment to Standing Order 38 puts into effect a recommendation of the Procedure Committee to which your Lordships agreed on Monday of this week. It is only a very minor amendment but it makes it quite clear that on Wednesdays Motions have precedence over legislation. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Standing Orders relating to Public Business he amended as follows:

Standing Order 38

After paragraph (4), insert the following new paragraph:

"(4A) On Wednesdays, notices of Motions shall have precedence over notices and orders relating to Public Bills, Measures and delegated legislation.".

Paragraph (5), line 1 leave out "paragraph (4)" and insert "paragraphs (4) and (4A)".

—(Lord Aberdare.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
