HL Deb 14 October 1985 vol 467 c344

2.58 p.m.

Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos

My Lords, in view of the great public importance of the Foreign Secretary's decision not to see the two PLO representatives today, and also in view of the fact that the House of Commons is not sitting, can the noble Viscount the Leader of the House tell us whether a Statement is to be made here?

The Lord President of the Council (Viscount Whitelaw)

My Lords, I know no more of this matter than noble Lords will know as stated in the press. However, I shall consult with my right honourable friend the Foreign Secretary and with my noble friend the Minister of State, and if it would be helpful to the House and there is information to give then of course I shall be prepared to ensure that there is a Statement tomorrow.

Lord Cledwyn of Penrhos

My Lords, I am most grateful to the noble Viscount the Leader of the House.
