HL Deb 30 October 1984 vol 456 cc443-4

[References are to [Bill 214] as first printed for the Commons] Clause 85, page 58, line 12, leave out ("tribunal") and insert ("assessment committee").

Lord Cameron of Lochbroom

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their amendment. This amendment is necessary to correct an oversight in the Bill. Put shortly, the Bill includes reference to the rent tribunals. The functions of the rent tribunals were transferred to the rent assessment committee by an Act of 1980, but, unfortunately, this matter was, by oversight, not contained in the earlier Act of 1971 and it was not accordingly changed. In these circumstances, I beg to move that the amendment be considered and accepted. I should say that the amendment has been seen and approved by the noble and learned Lord, Lord Brightman, who is the chairman of the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills. My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their amendment.

Moved, that the House do agree with the Commons in the said amendment.—(Lord Cameron of Lochbroom.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
