My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 25, 26 and 27, and, with leave, I should like to speak also to Amendments Nos. 29 to 31, 36 to 38, 40, 42 to 44, 48, 49 and 54 to 56.

These amendments improve the procedures in Schedule 2 for facilitating statutory succession on the voluntary retirement of the sitting tenant. They include extensions of the period for giving notice of retirement so that it is analogous to the timetable for notices to quit and arrangements for dealing with notices to quit given before and after the retirement notice.
