The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare) rose to move, That the Standing Orders relating to Private Business be amended, as follows:

Standing Order 1: No. 1 Line 71, leave out "1" and insert "2". No. 2 Line 73, leave out "National" and "Development".

Standing Order 3: No. 3 Lines 9 and 10, leave out "the Chairman of Ways and Means in the House of Commons (if the House thinks fit so to order) and". No. 4 Line 13, leave out "their" and insert "his".

Standing Order 29: No. 5 Line 8, leave out "the Environment" and insert "Transport".

Standing Order 30: No. 6 Lines 5 and 6, leave out "Trade and at the Department of the Environment" and insert "Energy".

Standing Order 31: No. 7 Line 6, leave out "Trade" and insert "Transport".

The noble Lord said: My Lords, these are purely formal amendments to bring the Private Bill Standing Orders up to date. Most of them are concerned with such things as bringing up to date the names of departments and statutory authorities. I can, of course, explain them in more detail if any of your Lordships so wish. Otherwise, I beg to move.
