§ The Earl of SwintonMy Lords, before I move the adjournment of the House may I, too, from these Benches, wish all noble Lords a very happy and peaceful Easter. I think that everybody would agree that we have had a fairly tough and busy time since we came back after Christmas. May I presume to speak on behalf of all Members of your Lordships' House to pay tributes to the staff and to thank them all, and to wish them, too, a happy and peaceful Easter.
§ Lord Ponsonby of ShulbredeMy Lords, may I thank the noble Lord for his remarks, and concur with his sentiments. The Government have in fact given us a fairly hard Lent Term. I think that we have sat on more days during this term than we have during similar periods for many years past. I live in the hopes that when we come to the summer term we may be spared some of the very late nights and meeting on five days a week. I hope indeed that the organisation of Government business will be such that we shall have a more relaxed summer term than we have had in some recent years in the past. Of course I join wholeheartedly with the noble Lord in his thanks and best wishes to the staff of the House. I think that they, and all of us, deserve the slight respite—only eight or nine days, I think—before we return on 11th April.
§ Lord RochesterMy Lords, despite, or perhaps all the more because of, the exchanges of an hour or so ago, I should like to join in wishing all Members of your Lordships' House a happy Easter and a good rest. May I associate those of us on these Benches with what has been said about the debt that we owe to the staff of I this House.
