HL Deb 04 July 1983 vol 443 c445
Lord Aberdare

My Lords, I beg to move the second Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That a Select Committee be appointed for the general supervision of arrangements relating to leave of absence and the reimbursement of Lords' expenses; and that, as proposed by the Committee of Selection, the Lords following, with the Chairman of Committees, be named of the Committee:—

—(Lord Aberdare.)

Lord Hale

My Lords, may I ask whether this is a general alteration of the order of things, in that we have on the Committee one of each of the two known types of Liberal, and one representative only of each of the two main parties; or am I in error? I very frequently am.

Lord Aberdare

My Lords, these are the names recommended by the Committee of Selection. I should not like to go further than that.

Lord Hale

My Lords, perhaps this matter could be considered by the Committee of Selection at an appropriate time.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
