My Lords, I beg to introduce a Bill to clarify the meaning of the Transport (London) Act 1969 by empowering the Greater London Council to make grants towards the current expenses of the London Transport Executive where such grants appear to the council to be required to provide or secure the provision of such public passenger transport services as best meet the needs for the time being of Greater London; to provide that such grants shall be treated as revenue of the Executive; and for connected purposes. I beg to move that this Bill be now read a first time.
