HL Deb 19 October 1981 vol 424 cc633-4

135 Clause 68, page 53, line 43, leave out '34, 39 and 43 ' and insert '31, (Duties of agriculture Ministers), 43, (Membership of National Park authorities) and (Duties of agriculture Ministers with respect to areas of special scientific interest) and Schedule 12 '.

The Earl of Avon

My Lords, I beg to move that the House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 135. If it is convenient to the House, I shall speak also to Amendments Nos. 136 and 137. These amendments concern the commencement of various provisions of the Bill. The Government have followed the helpful advice which my noble friend Lord Renton gave at an earlier stage and have provided that, where-ever possible. the provisions of the Bill will come into effect one month after enactment, without the need for any further parliamentary procedure. This will prevent any unnecessary delays and will simplify the statute books. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Corn- mons in the said amendment.—(The Earl of Avon.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
