§ 4 Schedule 3, page 37, line 44, after ("or") insert ("a pension").
§ The Lord ChancellorMy Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 4. For this again we are indebted to an outside source, but on this occasion no less than Sir Godfray Le Quesne, the chairman of the Monopolies Commission. It is simply a clarificatory amendment. Paragraph 7(3) of Schedule 3 to the Bill, to which the amendment is made, re-enacts paragraph 6 of Schedule 2 to the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 as amended by Schedule 12 to the Fair Trading Act 1973. It is plain that paragraph 6 applied the Pensions (Increase) Act 1971 to the pensions of the chairmen and deputy chairmen of the Monopolies Commission, and accordingly the amendment reflects the existing law. Paragraph 7(3) of Schedule 3 simplifies the wording. I beg to move.
§ Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said amendment.—[The Lord Chancellor.]
§ Lord Elwyn-JonesMy Lords, the House will note the value of the circulation of Bills on this occasion yet again. It is very helpful indeed.
§ On Question, Motion agreed to.
