HL Deb 22 June 1981 vol 421 c853
The Lord Chancellor (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)

My Lords, I rise to move that this Bill be now read a second time. It is a consolidation Bill. It brings together the provisions of the Trustee Savings Banks Act 1969, itself a consolidation Act, as amended and supplemented by the Acts of the same title of 1976 and 1978. It also reproduces the effect of two statutory instruments.

In addition to these consolidation provisions, it incorporates amendments recommended by the two Law Commissions of England and of Scotland, in their reports Nos. 108 and 65. The Bill, if the House is good enough to give it a Second Reading, will go to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills in the usual way. I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
