HL Deb 11 June 1981 vol 421 c320
Lord Denham

My Lords, it might be for the convenience of the House if I announce that dinner will be available today at the usual time. Subject to the progress of business this afternoon, the Committee stage of the Transport Bill may be adjourned at about 7 p.m. for approximately half an hour. I think I should inform the House that it has been agreed that the Committee stage of the Transport Bill will be completed today and that the House will, therefore, not sit tomorrow. It was felt that this would be in the general interests of your Lordships in all parts of the House, and I hope that it will be possible to make expeditious progress throughout today, so that the House will rise at not too uncomfortably late an hour tonight.

It may also be for the convenience of the House if I announce that at a convenient moment after 3.30 this afternoon my noble friend Lord Elton will, with the leave of the House, repeat a Statement that is to be made in another place on the escape from Her Majesty's Prison, Belfast.
