§ Lord BellwinMy Lords, this amendment fixes a maximum penalty for offences under this Act of £1,000 or other sum fixed by order to take account of changes in the value of money. The recent Magistrates' Court Act 1980 necessitates this technical amendment. I beg to move that this House do agree with the Commons in the said amendment.
