HL Deb 12 February 1981 vol 417 cc283-4
The Lord Chancellor

My Lords, this is a twin of the Bill to which your Lordships have just given a Second Reading. In this case the enactments consolidated are those which provide for the imposition of a national levy on exhibitors of films, for the constitution of the British Film Fund Agency, and for the functions of the agency in relation to the proceeds of the levy. The Acts mainly concerned are the Cinematograph Films Act 1957, the Films Act 1970 and the Films Act 1980.

Like the previous Bill, this is pure consolidation and will equally, if given a Second Reading, be referred to the joint committee. I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
