HL Deb 17 December 1981 vol 426 c283
The Chairman of Committees (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, this Motion in my name on the Order Paper proposes amendments to Standing Orders to put into effect the decision of the House taken last July on the recommendation of the Procedure Committee relaxing the requirement that Personal Bills should be printed. It will however remain within the discretion of the Chairman of Committees to direct that a particular Bill should be printed if in his opinion it would be desirable to do so. If a Personal Bill is sent down to another place unprinted, it will of course be for that House to decide whether or not to make a similar relaxation of the rules. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That the Standing Orders relative to Private Business be amended as follows:—

Standing Order 149

line 1: after "House" insert "other than a Personal Bill, shall".

line 2: leave out "shall".

Standing Order 152

line 4: leave out "printed".—(Lord Aberdare.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
