HL Deb 31 March 1980 vol 407 c1184

2.40 p.m.

Baroness VICKERS

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they will state what progress is being made in regard to district heating for factories, houses and flats.

The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of EMPLOYMENT (The Earl of Gowrie)

My Lords, the Government's policy on combined district heating and power generation is under consideration in the light of the Marshall Report (Energy Paper No. 35). We shall be making an announcement very shortly on this important issue.

Baroness VICKERS

My Lords, I thank the noble Lord the Minister for that fascinating reply, but will he tell me whether this report includes the action being taken by the power stations?

The Earl of GOWRIE

Yes, my Lords, my understanding is that it would.
