HL Deb 27 March 1980 vol 407 c977

4.17 p.m.

The MINISTER of STATE, DEPARTMENT of INDUSTRY (Viscount Trenchard)

My Lords, I beg to move that the Commons amendments be now considered. In putting forward this Motion I should like to explain that if it meets with the wishes of the House, we shall try to deal quite briefly with the very large number of technical amendments to those main Parts of the Bill which were under consideration for some considerable time in this House. If noble Lords wish to deal in detail with Commons amendments, and the reasons for them, other than where there are amendments down, we shall of course explain them. However, at the moment we are geared to move as fast as possible on those amendments which are largely technical. Having said that, may I ask my colleagues to move Amendment No. 1, unless noble Lords opposite—

The DEPUTY SPEAKER (Lord Aberdare)

My Lords, I first must put the Question that the Commons amendments be now considered.

Moved, That the Commons amendments be now considered.—(Viscount Trencharcl.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
