HL Deb 30 June 1980 vol 411 cc110-1

Clause 48, page 46, line 4, leave out ("85") and insert ("80").

The Commons propose the following amendment: Leave out ("80") and insert ("75").

Lord BELLWIN

My Lords, I beg to move that the House do agree with the Commons in their amendment to the Lords amendment.

The Commons appear to be minded to be slightly more generous to the railway pension schemes than we were minded to be, but I see no reason to dissent, and I advise your Lordships to agree to the Commons amendment.

Moved, That the House doth agree with the Commons in their amendment to the Lords Amendment.—(Lord Bellwin.)

Lord UNDERHILL

My Lords, briefly, may I say how much we appreciate the amendment made in the Commons. This is, I think, the third change, and presumably if there were more stages for this Bill, we should get back to the original 60 per cent. We have pleasure in supporting the amendment.
