Standing Order 12A: "Posting of notices in case of stopping up, etc. of public foot-paths or bridleways"

Insert the following new Standing Order 12A:

"12A. In the case of a Bill whereby it is proposed to stop up or divert any specified public foot-path or bridleway, not later than the twentieth day of November notice of the proposal shall be displayed in a prominent position at the ends of the part of the footpath or bridleway proposed to be stopped up or diverted".

The noble Lord said: My Lords, I beg to move the amendments to Private Business Standing Orders on the Marshalled List. These are of a very routine nature and with your Lordships' permission I would propose to move them en bloc. The only one which I should perhaps mention is the last one, No. 8, which proposes a new Standing Order to ensure that when there are Bills by which it is proposed to stop up or divert footpaths people are properly informed by notices in newspapers and on the footpaths themselves. These amendments are similar to those which have already been agreed in another place and bring our Standing Orders into line with those in another place. I beg to move.

Moved, That the amendments to Private Business Standing Orders be agreed to.—(Lord Aberdare.)

On Question, amendments agreed to.
