§ Lord MOWBRAY and STOURTONMy Lords, I beg to move that this Bill do now pass.
§ Moved, That the Bill do now pass.—(Lord Mowbray and Stourton.)
1598§ Lord ELWYN-JONESMy Lords, may I ask whether the noble Lord will take advantage of the Recess to visit personally some of the threatened seaside piers that he has recently been praising in the House but failing to provide any finance to safeguard?
§ Lord MOWBRAY and STOURTONMy Lords, during the summer months it is a custom among us that we take ourselves to seaside resorts; and I, like others of your Lordships, will be doing precisely that. Piers are a prime attraction at such seaside resorts. I can assure the noble and learned Lord that I shall be doing my bit as a private individual, putting my hand in my pocket, buying ice-creams and all the rest. If private individuals will help to keep the piers going, all will be well.
§ On Question, Bill passed.
