§ The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord Hailsham of Saint Marylebone)My Lords, it is my duty to read to your Lordships the following Statement from the Woolsack:
"My Lords, I have to acquaint the House that the Clerk of the Parliaments has received a letter from Mr. Peter Barnes, Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, informing him that on 8th April 1980 Lord Kagan was arrested by the French police in Paris on the basis of a warrant for his arrest issued by the justices at Leeds Magistrates' Court on the 1st April 1980 in connection with offences under the Theft Act 1968."
