HL Deb 12 July 1979 vol 401 c1038

4.22 p.m.

The MINISTER of STATE, MINISTRY of DEFENCE (Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal) rose to move, That the draft order laid before the House on the 25th June be approved. The noble Lord said: My Lords, when we had our debate on 26th June I explained to the House that it had been the Government's original intention to combine that debate with the renewal of the Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order. However, for technical reasons the Joint Committee on Statutory Instruments had not then reported to the House, so that was not possible. Nevertheless, on that occasion the House had what I hope noble Lords will agree was a full and an interesting debate on a substantive Government Motion, and therefore on this occasion I hope that it will be satisfactory to the House if I move formally that the Army, Air Force and Naval Discipline Acts (Continuation) Order be approved. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That the draft order laid before the House on the 25th June be approved.—(Lord Strathcona and Mount Royal.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
