Clause 2 [Interpretation]:

The CHAIRMAN of COMMITTEES (Lord Aberdare) moved the following Amendment: Page 3, leave out line 10.

The noble Lord said: My Lords, I beg to move a small Amendment to the Bill. The Amendment would have the effect of leaving out the line in the interpretation clause which reads: 'the county' means Tyne and Wear County".

At the last minute it was discovered that the words "the county" do not actually appear in the Bill and so there was not much point in defining them.

On Question, Amendment agreed to.

On Question, Bill passed, and returned to the Commons with the Amendments.
