HL Deb 07 February 1979 vol 398 c694
The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord Elwyn-Jones)

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time. The Bill is a straightforward consolidation of relevant parts of the Finance Act 1965 and succeeding Statutes dealing with the subject. It makes no changes in the present law. However, the opportunity has been taken to correct some small inconsistencies or obscurities in the text of the existing legislation. If read a second time today, the Bill will be referred in the usual way to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills. My Lords, I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
