HL Deb 23 November 1978 vol 396 c1088

3.24 p.m.

The LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I beg to move that this Bill be now read a second time. It is identical to the one which was introduced into your Lordships' House last June and read for a second time on 29th June. It was unable to make further progress before the end of the Session, on account of lack of time.

The Bill is a pure consolidation of parts of the Wages Councils Act 1959, the Industrial Relations Act 1971, the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974 and the Employment Protection Act 1975. It makes no changes in the present law. If the Bill is given a Second Reading by your Lordships it will be referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills in the usual way. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 2a.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Bill read 2a, and referred to the Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.
