HL Deb 20 March 1978 vol 389 c1569

[References are to Bill (58) as printed for the Commons]

Clause 21, page 14, line 37, leave out subsection (9).

The LORD CHANCELLOR

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment. The Amendment deletes subsection (9) from Clause 21 of the Bill. Subsection (9) amends the Criminal Injuries to Property (Compensation) Act (Northern Ireland) 1971 while Clause 21 is in force. However, the Bill now takes effect on 1st June 1978 and the Criminal Damage (Compensation)(Northern Ireland) Order 1977 repeals the 1971 Act in relation to acts occurring on or after 1st April 1978. Accordingly, subsection (9) of Clause 21 of the Bill is no longer necessary.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
