The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord Elwyn-Jones)

My Lords, with the leave of the House I beg to move that the House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments Nos. 144 to 161 en bloc. Amendment No. 144 was in fact dealt with by my noble friend Lord Oram at an earlier stage. These are largely drafting Amendments and there is only one point to which I think I need refer. Amendment No. 152 confers upon employed barristers the same right of audience as is given to solicitors and patent agents before the Patents Court when it is hearing appeals from the comptroller. I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendments.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendments.—(The Lord Chancellor.)

Lord LLOYD of KILGERRAN

My Lords, I should like to welcome Amendment No. 152 which relates to employed barristers. This is an important development, for which we are grateful to the Government.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
