HL Deb 04 July 1977 vol 385 cc10-1
The LORD PRIVY SEAL (Lord Peart)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. A similar Motion has already been agreed to in another place. Your Lordships' House has just agreed the report of the Offices Committee appointing a Sub-Committee on computers, and it is desirable that this Sub-Committee should be able to meet jointly with any Sub-Committee of a Services Committee on the same subject. I beg to move.

Moved, that the Sub-Committee on Computers appointed by the Select Committee on House of Lords Offices shall have power to join with any Sub-Committee thereon that may be appointed by the Select Committee of the House of Commons on House of Commons (Services);

That the Sub-Committee shall have leave to agree with the Commons in the appointment of a chairman for any joint meeting;

That the Sub-Committee shall have power to appoint persons with technical knowledge either to supply information which is not readily available or to elucidate matters of complexity relating to the matter referred to them; and

That the Sub-Committee shall have power to adjourn from place to place within the United Kingdom.—(Lord Pearl.)

On Question, Motion agreed to; and a Message ordered to be sent to the Commons to acquaint them therewith.
