Schedule 2, page 17, line 3, at end insert—

'Interpretation Act 1889

4A. In section 27 of the Interpretation Act 1889 (meaning of "committed for trial") for the words "to custody" wherever occurring there shall be substituted the words "in custody or on bail" and the words from "and shall include" to the end shall be omitted.'

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 32. This is a consequential Amendment to the Interpretation Act 1889 which is necessitated by the new language adopted in the Bill in consequence of the abolition of personal recognisances.
