HL Deb 27 October 1976 vol 376 c547

[No. 46.]

In the Title, line 6, leave out 'remanded' and insert 'kept'.

Lord HARRIS of GREENWICH

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 46. This is a drafting Amendment.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Harris of Greenwich.)

Lord HAILSHAM of SAINT MARYLEBONE

My Lords, now that the noble and learned Lord is here, I should like to repeat the thanks to him that I expressed in his absence for his good offices in helping us to settle the rather troublesome matter which was dealt with in Amendment No. 16A.

The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord Elwyn-Jones)

My Lords, I am most grateful to the noble and learned Lord for that intimation. He played a great part in our arriving at a solution, which I was glad to hear was acceptable to the Committee as a whole.

Bill returned to the Commons.
