HL Deb 07 October 1976 vol 374 c1498

3.20 p.m.

The LORD PRIVY SEAL (Lord Peart)

My Lords, I beg to move that the Bill be read a third time.

Moved, That the Bill be now read 3a.—(Lord Peart.)

The Earl of SELKIRK

My Lords, may I ask the noble Lord a question with reference to Clause 3? Reference is made to the Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the House of Lords. Is that the office which we call the Principal Deputy Chairman of Committees? That is the official title we have now given it. Should that title not be stated in the Statute?

Lord PEART

My Lords, I do not think I can add to the Bill now. As the noble Earl, Lord Selkirk says, it does say that, but I am afraid it is too late now to alter it at this stage.

On Question, Bill read 3a, and passed.
