Lord CHAMPION asked the Leader of the House:

What proposals he has for a review of the House of Lords Library services.

Lord SHEPHERD

As I outlined to the Offices Committee on 30th March, I am setting up a small Working Group under the chairmanship of the noble Viscount, Lord Eccles, to report to me with the following terms of reference: To review the future of the House of Lords Library and to consider the needs of—

  1. (a) all Members of the House for a general reference library and information service; and
  2. (b) the Lords of Appeal and the Lord Chancellor's Office for a specialized library.".

After consultation with the Chairman, I have invited the following to be members of the Group and I am pleased to say that they have agreed to serve:

  • V. Eccles
  • V. Norwich
  • Bp. Rochester
  • L. Ashby
  • L. Darling of Hillsborough
  • Bns. Elles
  • Bns. White
  • L. Wilberforce
with the Principal Clerk, Information Services.
