HL Deb 08 June 1976 vol 371 c467
Lord MILFORD

My Lords, I beg leave to ask the Question which stands in my name on the Order Paper.

The Question was as follows:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether they can throw more light on the allegations published in our national Press on the existence of a Foreign Office document warning Italy of the consequences if the Communists go into the Government after the general election.

The MINISTER of STATE, FOREIGN and COMMONWEALTH OFFICE (Lord Goronwy-Roberts)

My Lords, there is no such document.

Lord MILFORD

My Lords, I thank the Minister for that reply. There really is absolutely none at all? I am very pleased to know that.

Lord TREFGARNE

My Lords, have the Government considered the implications to the MRCA programme if the Italian Government are taken over by the Communists at the forthcoming election?

Lord GORONWY-ROBERTS

My Lords, we are always considering the implications of all sorts of things, but this is hardly the time or the occasion to engage in a detailed answer to a detailed question of that kind.
