§ The LORD CHANCELLOR (Lord Elwyn-Jones)My Lords, this may be an opportune moment, before the House proceeds to the principal business of the day, for me to acquaint your Lordships of the fact that, with the approval of the Counsellors of State, I have accepted an invitation to attend the annual conference of the American Bar Association to be held in Atlanta, Georgia, from 6th to 11th August. I have also accepted an invitation to attend the conference of the European Court to be held in Luxembourg on 27th and 28th September. I hope that your Lordships will agree to grant me leave of absence for 6th August and 27th and 28th September.
