HL Deb 28 July 1976 vol 373 c1352
The Earl of LISTOWEL

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. As your Lordships are aware, at this time during the Session I usually have to ask your Lordships to dispense with Private Business Standing Order No. 147, in order to enable certain Private Bills to pass through both Houses of Parliament before the Summer Recess. The purpose of suspending this Standing Order is to shorten the period between the Committee stage and Third Reading of a Bill by not requiring the Departments concerned to receive the amended Bill three clear days in advance. I beg to move.

Moved, That Standing Order No. 147 (Bill as amended in Committee to be deposited at Public Departments) be suspended until the House rises for the Summer Recess.)—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
