HL Deb 08 July 1976 vol 372 cc1308-9
Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE

My Lords, with the leave of the House, at a convenient moment after 3.30 my noble friend Lord Melchett will repeat a Statement on industrial strategy.

May I also make a statement about dinners, as I promised I would earlier in the week ? As the House knows, business has been lighter than usual and as a result our experiment with regular Tuesday dinners has not been as successful as we had hoped. I have consulted the chairman of the Refreshments Sub-Committee and it has been agreed that, sadly, regular Tuesday dinners should be discontinued, but dinners will, of course, be available in the usual way on any night w hen business requires it.

Lord DERWENT

My Lords, if we did not sit rather unnecessarily on Mondays, we could sit later on Tuesdays and have dinners.

Baroness LLEWELYN-DAVIES of HASTOE

My Lords, I trust and hope that the noble Lord will always be present late at night.
