HL Deb 20 January 1976 vol 367 c353

2.56 p.m.

The CHAIRMAN of COMMITTEES (The Earl of Listowel)

My Lords. I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper. At the end of the debate on the special Report of the Select Committee on Recommitment, on 9th December, I gave an undertaking to move a procedural Motion to recommit the appropriate clauses of the County of South Glamorgan Bill. It is to implement this undertaking that I am asking the House to agree to this Motion this afternoon. I have also considered the question of a most suitable Committee to which to recommit these clauses of the Bill. I am pleased to inform the House that the noble Earl, Lord Cathcart, and the noble Lord, Lord Airedale, have agreed to sit with me to consider these clauses. If the Motion is agreed, the Committee will start work next week. A list of the clauses proposed for recommitment is now available in the Private Bill Office. I beg to move.

Moved, That the Bill be recommitted to a Select Committee to consider those clauses in the Bill as deposited last Session which were disallowed by the Select Committee (on Recommitment) or withdrawn, because they were to meet a need common to all or a great number of local authorities.—(The Earl of Listowel.)

On Question, Motion agreed to.
