HL Deb 07 December 1976 vol 378 cc523-4
Lord ABERDARE

My Lords, I beg to move the second Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That the Select Committee on the House of Lords Offices be appointed and that as proposed by the Committee of Selection the Lords following, with the Chairman of Committees, be named of the Committee:

—(Lord Aberdare.)

Baroness PHILLIPS

My Lords, I would ask the noble Lord the Chairman of Committees why the Select Committee on Commodity Prices—unfortunately, I was not in the House when this was moved—did not contain a female Peer. Women do know a little about prices.

Lord ABERDARE

My Lords, I think this is rather another question from the Motion I am now moving, but my recollection is that that particular Committee was being reappointed. It was the same Committee as was sitting in the last Session.

Lord LEE of NEWTON

My Lords, may not the answer be that that Committee has met 30 times and in concluding the evidence it heard it would be a bit risky to start putting new people on that Committee?

On Question, Motion agreed to.
