§ The LORD CHAIRMAN of COMMITTEES (The Earl of Listowel)My Lords, with the leave of the House I should like to make a Statement. On 7th August, I announced to the House the arrangements for considering the Starritt Report on the Security of the Palace of Westminster. I am glad to say that the following Peers have agreed to serve on the small committee, to be set up jointly with the House of Commons, to examine the Report:
The terms of reference of the committee, which have been agreed with the House of Commons, will be:
- The noble Earl, Lord St. Aldwyn,
- The noble Viscount, Lord Hood,
- The noble Lord, Lord Amulree,
- The noble Lord, Lord Champion.
"To consider the review of security at the Palace of Westminster carried out by Sir James Starritt, CVO, lately Deputy Commissioner, Metropolitan Police, and to make recommendations."
Mr. Speaker has made a similar Statement in another place this morning.
