HL Deb 23 October 1975 vol 364 c1629

[Nos. 10–12]

Clause 7, page 4, line 41, leave out subsection (3).

Page 5, line 6, leave out from ("surcharge") to end of line 7.

The Commons disagreed to these Amendments for the following Reason:

Because the said Amendments might involve charges on public funds, and the Commons do not offer any further Reason trusting that this Reason may be deemed sufficient.

Lord SHEPHERD

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth not insist on their Amendments Nos. 10 and 11 to which the Commons have disagreed for the Reason numbered 12, Because the said Amendments might involve charges on public funds, and the Commons do not offer any further Reason trusting that this Reason may be deemed sufficient.

Moved, That this House doth not insist on their Amendments Nos. 10 and 11 to which the Commons have disagreed.—(Lord Shepherd.)

Lord HAILSHAM of SAINT MARYLEBONE

My Lords, I bet this was thought up by the Civil Service, because by far the most probable effect of your Lordships' Amendment would be to decrease the charge on public funds.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
