HL Deb 25 November 1975 vol 366 c135

2.45 p.m.

The LORD PRIVY SEAL (Lord Shepherd)

My Lords, I beg to move the Motion standing in my name on the Order Paper.

Moved, That it is desirable that a Joint Committee of both Houses be appointed to scrutinise delegated legislation.—(Lord Shepherd.)

Lord TREFGARNE

My Lords, I am sorry to interrupt, but I should like to ask the noble Lord the Leader of the House whether this Committee will have power to consider the Standing Orders relating to delegated legislation which, in my opinion, need some attention.

Lord SHEPHERD

My Lords, that is one of the fastest balls I have received for a very long time. If the noble Lord, Lord Trefgarne, will allow me to do so, I will look into the matter and correspond with him. If it is a matter on which the House should be informed, perhaps we can arrange for a Question to be put down for Written Answer.

On Question, Motion agreed to.
