HL Deb 05 November 1975 vol 365 c1282

[No. 133]

Clause 55, page 34, line 46, at end insert— ("In this subsection "guardian" has the same meaning as in the Children and Young Persons Act 1933.")

Lord WINTERBOTTOM

My Lords, I beg to move that this House doth agree with the Commons in their Amendment No. 133. This is a very simple drafting Amendment to enable a person who has custody of a child—for instance, a custodian—to fall within the definition of "guardian" for the purposes of the Legal Aid Act 1974 so as to be eligible for legal aid within the terms of Clause 55.

Moved, That this House doth agree with the Commons in the said Amendment.—(Lord Winterbottom.)
